Are You Being Tracked With Cell Phone Surveillance?

Everyday millions of people carry and use their cell phone. Many people may not be aware that their cell phone emits a signal that allows them to be tracked with their cell phones. Cell phone companies can use cell phone surveillance to see where a phone is anytime, anywhere and also to monitor the user’s actions while on the cell phone. Conversations and texting can also be monitored using cell phone surveillance.

The amount of surveillance that can be accomplished is nothing short of frightening. There is software, devices and equipment that allow tracking via your cell phone. Cell phone gps surveillance is not a new phenomenon either. Governments have been using it for some time. Issues regarding the legality and invasion of privacy have been the subject of intense legal debate and court cases.

Most governments have ruled its use illegal by law enforcement without reasonable cause and a warrant. This still has not stopped or slowed down its use by private individuals. Free software for pc to cell phone surveillance is available online to anyone.

While the use of cell phone gps surveillance by parents to let them know where their children are (and the content of their texting/conversations) is a practical use for this technology, abuse and misuse are rampant.

It is relatively easy to contact a surveillance company, give them someone’s cell phone information, pay a small monthly fee (usually less than ten dollars per month); and in minutes you are able to track that person’s whereabouts all the time.

Many people are criticizing lawmakers because policies and laws have not kept up with this technology. There have been several cases where an abusive partner has been able to find a victim by using cell phone surveillance. Being able to get away from an abuser is critical to a victim’s survival in many instances. It is impossible for a victim to hide with their abuser having access to this technology so readily.

Parents have also been criticized for using surveillance for tracking children as well. Child advocates fear it is counterproductive to the parent child relationship and that we are raising a generation of young people who will not have any expectation of privacy in their private lives.

Employers have been quick to jump on using the surveillance and it is part of business surveillance systems for keeping up with employees’ actions. In days past, employees (such as couriers) were kept track of via gps tracking in the vehicle. However with cell phone surveillance now available, the employee can be monitored all the time. This has posed the problem of an employee being monitored during non work hours such as breaks, lunch periods and off duty hours. An employee’s private life can now be public to the employer. Often times, the employee has no choice in the matter if they want to keep their job. This gives employers an extreme amount of power over an employee.

Cell phone surveillance is technology that comes with a high price tag. People’s safety and privacy are threatened by it. With little policy in place to regulate the technology, misuse is a common occurrence. Our private lives may become a thing of the past with it.
